Sorry, but I don't understand all the angst. This is a cutback DS allowing them to compete with stuff like the Nikon D50. It's not like they had to invest millions to redesign the thing. Also, it could very well be SAFOX VIII (the first version to use a cross sensor) but with fewer sensors. This is a very sensible and unsurprising camera to release, almost to the point of being a tweak to the DS. It's not like the DL is taking valuable resources away from that 16 MP FF DSLR they got in the back.
