it is tough to do in Photoshop even when everything is in range, but most of
the time when you need to do it, highlights are burned out or shadows are
lost. i prefer to take multiple exposures and blend them. PS CS2 Merge to
HDR makes this much easier than before. however, i feel that CS2 is
noticeably slower than CS at many things. the added capabilities are worth
it for me though. having said that, i recently replaced my set of Cokin
split ND filters for a set of Singh Ray ones. they are nicer to work with
since they are longer and can be more easily positioned.
