Hello Boris, If the filter doesn't have SMC etched into the ring it is probably an earlier, non-SMC filter. If you want the best of the Pentax filters, be sure that you can see the designation on the filter ring. Also, some filters are shown with a box. The SMC filter boxes have the designation on the box as well as on the filter ring. Ask the seller to take a pic showing you the markings. Some are rather unscrupulous or ignorant sellers. There are a whole batch of filters on eBay now that are touted as being Pentax filters, but they are not. Some filters may be SMC models, but the seller may not know enough to mention it. Ask questions!
