The VS1 70-210/2.8-4 is the third VS1 70-210 version. Off the top of my head, I'd say that the first version (70-210/3.5, 67mm filters) sold in the late 70's, and the second version (70-210/3.5, 62mm filters) in the early 80's. (Those are approximations, but I know that they are pretty close to the truth.) It's pretty obvious that your example of the third version was made in 1985 (as you suspect). By the way, my sample of the third version has the usual "A" aperture ring setting, not a "P" setting (which does sound like the Ricoh mount). Fred
