NEW is always worth a price premium to some. Most buyers are unlikely to understand the difference between one model or the other. "This is the latest model, and it is actually a few bucks cheaper than the old one" sells a lot of almost anything. However, in a couple of months no one will be able to sell a DL at those prices and the price differential will be much larger.

You must be kidding? To someone on a tight budget where 30 EUR really
matters THEY ARENT GOING TO BE BUYING A 700EUR DSLR.
Im not saying there arent people where 30EUR really matters in their
budget,
but those people are NOT the buyers of 700EUR cameras....
It has nothing to do with my or anyones elses wealth, it has
to do with ONLY buyers of 700EUR cameras and TO THOSE people
30eur will never be signifigant on the purchase.
Damn, I cant believe anyone would even argue this...

P.S.
Of course, I think your anger is really at Pentax, for not putting a bigger
price differential on the two cameras. Another not so smart marketing move --
there I can't disagree with you.
Unless they expect the street prices to end up varying by a more significant
amount.
