Hope you don't mind me answering your question.
Mildred was a black bear that many years ago, became somewhat of a nuisance
around the town of Linville, NC. She was taken back to the wild several
times, but always managed to find her way back. After several of these
removals/returns, she was "donated" to Mr. Hugh Morton, the owner of
Grandfather Mountain.
Next time I'm up there, I'll ask Mr. Morton for more details and will pass
them around.
