Watch for specials from Adobe -- if you have time. A few years back, I was alerted on a Nikon user list to a direct-from-Adobe short term special for PS 7.0 at half price. At the time time, I did not have a pressing need for PS, just wanted to try out a more advanced application. I was just "looking." The special seemed like a good opportunity to "move up" so I purchased a copy.. I was a little worried about being able to update -- no restriction was advertised --- but the load did seemed right for a unrestricted copy. However, it worked with no problems and served as the base for installing CS when it came along and then a few weeks ago CS2. For me, this has been one of my better investments in software.

no, i was dead serious.
you either believe that one must pay for software -- then,
well, it costs $600, so cough it up.
or you don't give a damn about them -- then get a demo CS2 from adobe and a free s/n from somewhere else.

Either pay full price or steal the product?
Surely there must be other acceptable options.
