Go to Best Buy. What's on the shelf. Wal-Mart? What do you use at the office.

There are probably a few people, like me, who used an original Mac,
thought the absence of an eject key for the floppy drive was a very
stupid idea, and then didn't touch one again for over ten years.

I think this is changing today. The iMac, while it certainly has it's
naysayers (mostly people who don't like 'cute'), is really pulling in
a new batch of customers for Apple. Quite a few cities now have Mac
stores. iPods are popping up at chain retailers. There are a few
chain retailers that have been carrying Macs for a while. ie.
CompUSA.

The upcoming "merger" with Intel (iNtel inside?) will allow Apple to
take advantage of less expensive commodity hardware, which in turn
should allow them to be even more competitive. And the rumors never
stop - Dell may offer peecees with MacOS, Intel is buying Apple,
blahblahblah. I won't be surprised if Apple sees even greater success
with the Mac line over the next few years.

On the other hand, I use peecee hardware because it's cheap, I can buy
the components I want, build it myself, and install the OS of my
choice without being forced to pay homage to Billy G. or Stevie J.
People like me are not in the majority. But I'll bet our numbers
outpace Mac users. So that's just another possible answer to your
question.
