Google searchs now give priority to sites that either advertise with Google or carry google advertising. Sites that don't wind up way, way down on the list. Yahoo currently seems to be the best search engine for people who are not looking for advertisements.
Who knows about MSN, I don't use it even though I get it free from my ISP.
