I had the camera set at ISO 400, manual exposure mode. The flower shot at f8 1/1500 was about half a stop under the overall ambient light. So in effect, the flash becomes the main light and the ambient is fill. The frog shot at 5.6 1/1500 was about two stops under the ambient light. It would have been hard to handhold this one without the flash. The flash was set to the high speed synch mode, which is indicated by an "SP" designation on the LCD panel. The flash can provide some fill in daylight from about twenty feet without the Kalt device, but it's marginal. With the Kalt Flash Xtender, it functions very well in daylight. The Kalt device is about fifty bucks and is available on their website. Paul
