It's certainly an improvement on the design it replaced - the
Mavicas that recorded on regular 3.5" floppies. But a CD-R is
big and slow compared to the equivalent direct memory media.
And I'm not convinced that paying to have a dedicated CD burner
in your camera is the best return on your investment unless you
plan to be away from your computers for an extended period.
Still, at least there is now a model with decent resolution
(2k x 1.5k), and Sony have added the ability to use CD R/W media.
But you need to take an awful lot of images without downloading
before it becomes cheaper than using an S75 with memory sticks.
And don't forget that the Mavica goes through batteries very fast;
that's an important consideration when planning extended shoots.
