They don't, on both statements :-( Thats the error! The other thing is that the aperture ring doesnt lock in auto position. I believe it is supposed to do so. In shorts, it doesnt work. You can also take the lens off the camera, if you don't push the aperture lever the diaphragm should close to the position indicated by the aperture ring.
