I just received a new toy - a Sigma 3.5-5.6/18-50mm DC.
For 36 USD at a local internet auction, I believe it's a bargain.
It seems to give me appr. 1/3 more FOV compared to a 24mm.
I'm going to try it out during the next couple of days, when I am
photographing for a corporate screensaver.
I don't have huge expectations to this cheap lens. But someone once told me,
he had both this and the Pentax 18-35mm f/4-5.6 FAJ AL SMC and hadn't
noticed any difference in sharpness and distortion.

The lens I had, btw, is an Industar for the first Zenit SLR camera.
This lens was basically a collapsible Industar (copy of the Elmar)
that had been made shorter, to focus on a camera where the mount is
farther from the film than in a Leica.
