Is there an easy fix (software upgrade, Photoshop action or other

I use iView Media Pro 2 most of the time, and have it set the
Created field to be the same as the Modified field when it
transfers files from media card to my working drive.
iView sounds like a viable solution.
iView does this well.
If you use it to set the Creation Date to be the same as the
Modified date during transfer to your HD, does the Modified Date
field subsequently behave as a "modified" field should; i.e. will
changes to the original file then result in an updating of the info
in this field to reflect the date & time of the modification?
Yes, that's done by the operating system automatically.
Of course, if you are working with PEF files, they will never be
updated or modified ... PEF files are basically read-only. If you're
working with JPEG files, open and edit one, save it back into the
same file, the Modified date will be updated to reflect the time of
that operation.
I've been informed that AppleScript can be made to do this, but it's
not particularly straightforward and requires an add-on library from
another developer. I might write a little application to do it as
they lack of a proper Creation date on my .PEF files annoys me. If I
get that done, I'll post a note here.
