i'll have to experiment with it stopped down some. i gather that it is quite sharp and contrasty under those conditions, hopefully better than the FA 24-90. however, i am beginning to think that if i am willing to trade off some speed, the DA 16-45 and DA 50-200 are going to be at least as sharp and contrasty.

I didn't use mine wide open at all. I'll give it a try soon. I'd expect
it to be useful for portraits that way.
