Thanks, Dave, for the shots.  The mod does look familiar - that previous
owner probably had his/her own photos online previously, too - <g>.  I
filed your images away in case I ever get around to undertaking such a mod.

It does look like a successful modification - it does seem to be much
closer to the neat arrangement for the A* 200/4 Macro tripod mount (which
also happens to fit on the F* 300/4.5, but not the other way around, if I
recall correctly).

In my case, I have used the F* 300/4.5 with the mount attached only
sparingly - I do a lot of 300mm (and up - <g>) hand-holding of lenses
(especially with bright enough light and fast enough film, of course), and
I've used this model mostly without the mount.

The "stock" tripod mount for the F* 300/4.5 has always been a curiosity to
me, and it's nice to see one "tamed" with a nice modification - <g>.
