last year, there were about 2.5M DSLRs sold worldwide by Japanese
manufacturers. i think those are monthly figures since the Japanese total
for December of last year was about 290K.

There were 200,000 DSLRs sold in 2005 through April? Hmmm. When the DS was
introduced, Pentax claimed that it would sell 100,000 of them by March
2005. Although the DS has been very successful, I would guess that it
didn't make that goal.
