Mike,

I just loved the panned shot of the puffin. It doesn't matter at all that it's not sharp. The colours, the grain, the directional movement. Everything has just clicked in, imo.

The shag portrait is also very nice. Good job to control the contrast between the rock and the plumage. The background burns out a bit, but the plumage is right.

Puffins with a beak full of herring is a classic motif. It's nice with the nesting shag, but I think the environment becomes a tad (gnat's whiskers, wasn't it?:-)) too complex or messy. You should at least have climbed down and removed that pole to the right of the shag.

In all three shots it shows that the film is pushed one stop, but it's only the last shot that suffers from it, imo.

Jostein

PS. I just feel like being harsh because I'm envious...:-)

Subject: PESO: Some birdy pics

From a visit to the Farne Islands a few weeks ago. Nothing spectacular (unlike the Golden Eagle I saw last weekend - whilst driving...) but cute. Scans from the lab picture disc, so better than anything the Craposcan can put out. 8-)

Once I get the slide film processed, there should be an excellent picture of the Shag's (nearly a Cormorant) eye, which was the most vivid green.
