New York is a photographer's dream: Streets full of people. s huge range
of fascinating architecture, an immense range of happenings. One weekday
afternoon, wander around the garment district on the West Side (west of
6th avenue) between 34th and 39th street and shoot the homeless, the
people who "work" the streets, and the garment industry runners pushing
racks of clothing between lanes of traffic. Go to Soho on a Thursday,
Friday or Saturday evening and shoot some of the beautiful people
popping in and out of the bars on West Broadway. Then scoot over to
Chinatown and Little Italy and shoot some more film there. Walk down
Canal Street on any weekday afternoon and shot everything you see that
you've never seen before. Go to Central Park on Sunday and shoot the
roller bladers, the bikers, the runners, the mimes, the magicians, and
the musicians. And, of course, don't forget to eat at some of New York's
wonderful restaurants. Some of my favorites include Aqua Grille in Soho
(seafood), Shun Lee Palace in east Midtown (Chinese), and Gotham Bar and
Grille in the Village (NY, NY). I miss New York so much. I hope you
enjoy it as much as I have.
