They're not kidding. This is one of the playback-post processing in-
camera options. At least, if you use this kind of thing, it makes a
copy of the original and saves the original. Mostly nonsense far as I'm

There _are_ 18 "programmable custom functions" that I can't find
listed anywhere.

Huh? Have you read the *ist DS instruction manual? The Custom Function
menu settings are documented starting on Page 100. All of them are
there, and they're all clearly indicated with references to further
information as needed. They're all sensible options too, non of the
"slimming filter" nonsense.
I was just looking through lists of camera specs, not at the manual.
And I shudder at the thought of a slimming filter. Although........
