Gosh I can't remember.

It was 1977 when I did photography at art college. I can't remember being
inspired by anyone. Possibly Ansel Adams. But I was discovering other art
forms as well, and instantly fell in love with Turner's work, an
adoration which continues unabated to this day. My paintings emulated
his, and accordingly I was pitied by contemporaries as back in the 70's,
he was not as highly regarded by teenagers as perhaps today. But then
again, he's now completely over-hyped.

It was nearly 20 years later when I discovered Jeanloup Sieff, Arnold
Newman, HCB, Robert Frank, and rediscovered my photography completely. It
was like a rebirth. Very refreshing.

I can't pin it down to one single photograph though. For instant
inspiration, I can open a book by any of the above, and it's like a
battery recharge - I'm off and running!
