I have to agree with you; there a couple that are hot commodities on
used market. The one
that I was very surprised to see missing was the K1000. I know that it
wasn't a high-end
model but it was a staple of their line for many years. I was
disappointed that it didn't
merit a brief mention in their history. It's no wonder the brand doesn't
receive much
respect among the less-informed or the merely brand conscious because
the company gives
its own line short shrift.

I was introduced to the K1000 during its third year of production by my
science teacher
who was the photography club sponsor. (By strange coincidence, his wife
who taught English
and journalism was the yearbook sponsor.) Hmmm... an SLR in the hands of
a budding control
freak...absolute heaven or absolute hell! ;-)

In short order, I became acquainted with B&W film, the dark room and the
magic of printing
my own work. I soon learned that this was yet another habit I couldn't
afford on an
allowance of $10/week. I kept putting the K1000 on my wish list.
Although I eventually
my own K1000, the wish list has never completely disappeared because
there's always
something else that I *must* have.
