Hi!
Hmm, if I didn't touch all the drive brands that I've seen fail I would never touch a hard drive. I'm currently running seven WD SATA drives and two large and expensive IBM SCSI drives, the WDs are perfect however one of the IBMs occasionally howls like two cats in a stand-off.
My first computer had IBM hard drives. The regular ones at the time. I had two of them blow the controller to dust... Now, in Israel, you don't go about replacing controller - you replace the whole sucker... Now I have two WD drives that seem to work, for now...
Rob, may I suggest that if your IBM drives produce odd sounds, you start backing them up and think of immediate replacement. My older drives before going to drink a cup of tea with their creator produced very strange sounds like some sand was rolling around inside them...
Anyway, regardless of the way it sounded - replacement can be in order... Just my few MBs here... Boris
