Thank you - my daughter went to see it, and I guess I should, too.

You got some good photos but, to be blunt, they need to be sharper. I've
never done macro so I can't and won't offer suggestions, only comment.

Good job!

Maris

| I've posted some scans from 4 x 6 prints at
http://www.butterfly.dombek.com. I did not retouch any of the images other
than cropping. I would appreciate comments. Especially regarding the
Vivitar lens as compared to the Pentax SMC-FA Macro 100mm f/3.5. I
purchased the Vivitar version to save a couple of bucks because I purchased
the Pentax SMC-FA 50mm f/1.4 at the same time.

| Anyway, here is my self critique:
|
| #1: Cropped. I don't like the color. Would the ZX-5n's flash work here or
am I too close?
|
| #2: Cropped. I like it but it could be a bit sharper.
|
| #3: Uncropped. Nice shadow.
|
| #4: Uncropped. One of my two favorites. I like the way the background
reminds me of an Impressionistic painting.
|
| #5: Uncropped. Nice detail, great shadowing.
|
| #6: Cropped. My other favorite shot. I like the blurred butterfly flying
by in the top left corner.
|
| #7: Cropped. Could be a little sharper. Amazing how the butterfly's
markings blend with the surroundings.
|
| #8: Uncropped. This is my wife's favorite. She actually pointed it out to
me. I really like the contrasting shades of orange.
|
| #9: Cropped. Not bad.
|
| #10: Uncropped. The more I look at this the more I like it. If you look
closely you can see the antenna on the other side of the plant. Nice and
sharp.
|
| #11: Cropped. I included this one because of how you can barely see the
brown butterfly near the flower in the lower left.
|
| #12: Cropped. Head shot. I like the light on the wings. Could be sharper.
|
| #13: Uncropped. Good one to end on.
|
| I can't wait to go again. Images 1-7 were taken with Fuji Superia CN 100.
The remaining were with Fuji Superia CA 200. If - I mean when - I go back,
what would you recommend?
|
| Thanks!!!
