That drove me crazy when I was doing all my shooting
with Super Programs. The usual problem was the card
(the end of the film box) falling out of the holder at
some point.
It's not hard to do a mid-roll rewind on that camera.
Just rewind s-l-o-w-l-y until you feel and hear the
leader pull free of the spool; then pop the back open
and see what the film is! Reload, advance the film
(lens cap on, f/22, 1/2000), get momentarily
distracted (spouses and children are helpful for this
step), put the camera down, and come back an hour
later having forgotten what the film was.
Easy!
