Actually, I forgot to mention that there's a pretty cool trick that the
1D can do. If I'm out shooting from the hip and it's in a quiet location,
I set the camera up for maximum stealth, thus:
Eyepiece blind in place. First press and release of the shutter button
locks the mirror up. Move into position near subject, when ready: 2nd
press of the shutter button and hold exposes the scene (focal plane
shutter curtains travel across sensor). Move away from subject, release
shutter button and mirror drops down into place.
Not a hamster sneezing, more like a fart.
Now I would think that would really disturb the subject...
