I have the Stylus Epic as well. I am satisfied with the quality of the
lens, and with its choice of exposure values. I don't like the excessive
delay between the time I hit the trigger and the time the exposure is
actually fired. I also don't lke the fact that each time you turn it on,
the custom settings return to default (for instance, I have to turn the
automatic flash off every time I use the camera). Plus, of course, not
having any control over the exposure, particularly the aperture, grates on
me a lot.
It sounds like I really don't like the camera, and that's not true. I use
it whenever I don't want to carry something bigger (the LX and Wheatfield's
old pancake lens are the next smallest rig I have). Plus it's a lot less
obtrusive than an SLR. I covered a courtroom story for the NY Post here in
Vancouver a month or so ago, and the sheriffs let me into the courtroom with
the Stylus, but made me check the LX the next day. Of course, one cannot
take pictures in the courtroom, but it means that you're ready on the way
out much faster than the others who have to claim their gear.
