Hi!
Frankie's no longer a bike messenger <audible gasps from the audience>.
Whoa!
I've actually been a back-up dispatcher for many years, but not at the company I currently work for. When I heard that our dispatcher's leaving, I told them I'm interested, they had me up for an interview, put me on the board for a day, and hired me.
Great news.
It will be a bit more money than my best days on the road to start off, but the best part of it is that I don't have to ride winters anymore.
Which means chances of you coming across have just grown, right?
The office is about 10 km from my house, so I still get to have a good ride there and back on good weather days (including winter, if it's dry and not too cold), but when the weather hoovers, I can subway/bus it there. Hopefully, riding daily and going on longer road rides on weekends will allow me to keep my svelt figure (and avoid that annoying middle-age spread <LOL>)
:-)
Down side is longer hours and fairly high pressure, but I'm happy to make the trade-off. The other downside is that I can't go to my lab on the way home, because I work to 6pm, and he closes then. I have to do all my photo-stuff on Saturdays now... I may go out to celebrate tonight!
I think you should. Congratulations! Boris
