This is the digital dilemma for me.
Do I trip the shutter, knowing the picture will be crap, but not caring, since there is nothing to be gained or lost with the decision, or not take
the picture because I know it will be crap.
I am finding that most people now will just take the picture, they already
have it in their sights, so they may as well.

When I first started shooting digital, I tripped the shutter more than I would have with film. But I got over that. I took a walkaround yesterday with the intention of taking some photos and recorded only one image in over an hour. I find that I shoot about the same way as I did with film. Poorly perhaps, but the same <g>.

That's my experience too, Paul, although it is possible to continue to shoot thoughtfully yet be more opportunistic due to the low cost of capturing more exposures. The difference between photographic discipline and just pressing the button a lot comes down to how much thought and seeing you put into making exposures.
