If I may make a comment:
There's nothing to be sorry about when offering a critique. I like
receiving any form of objective, honest criticism of a photo. :-)
I have been posting a picture or two every other day and seeing
people's reactions to them. Some of the reactions are complimentary,
some are not. Sometimes the responses surprise me, either way.
Often times, I plan for these photos to be part of a show or set
where they have context in presentation. Seen that way, the story
they present is quite different from a standalone photo. But since
you're not seeing the show or set together in that context, the
statement that one might "...sort of tell a story..." makes perfect
sense, and provides some key information about how the photo ought to
be presented if I think it's good enough for the job.
