I had fewer traffic jams on the way back and I used the Blue Ridge to avoid going through Boone. I also drove straight through with two gas stops and no breaks for food.

When you show up for the NPW, leave all your camera equipment where I can hijack it for the weekend. Then all you have to do is wander around looking at all the things you would photograph if you had a camera to use.
