That was me and it sounds like you have the same problem. The zoom link lever seems to be a bit week in this lens and sticky lens lube can rip a screw out. The cool damp Newfy weather likely made the zoom harder to turn. Rob also repaired this lens with the same failure. http://members.shaw.ca/hargravep/70-210.htm Read carefully before disassembly.
