I think that what you're asking is very close to request for future
foretelling... Technologically *istD is seriously outdated already.
After all, it's been introduced at 2003. But this is a techno-geek
inside me speaking. The pictures I took with it just last week in UK
are as lovely to my heart as they will ever be.

When you hear that "models just a few years old (or less) are dated
and need to be upgraded" it is either marketing people talking or
those who were distorted by them.

What matters is final print. As long as you have tools (including of
course computers, software, and other accessories) to make prints from
your camera - you and your camera are perfectly fine.

I think that the only real danger there is would be lack of
technicians able to take proper care of your camera if you have to
submit it to repair, maintenance, or mere CLA.
