Hi! My reply is between your lines...

It's a 1lb device the size of a pocket paperback book ... I > don't really want to carry the extra weight (and risk of damage) > around with me all the time. Oh, no I get it :-)... I see, the backup thingie is indeed rather big. > I store exposures purely in RAW format, so one 1G card equals 97 > photos. But my old rule of thumb has always been "carry about > double the storage, film or digital, that you average in a day." Thus > I carry 6x 1G cards. There were a couple of days where I filled 4 and > a bit of a 5th. Likewise... Though I get only 74 photos out of 1G card with my *istD... I think I am still less trigger happy than many on the list... I average 20-30 exposures per day. So throughout 8 days in UK out of which 7 days were of active shooting I shot 251 image (with major chimping), which fits my estimate. Hence I managed to fill exactly 3.5 1G cards while I had just 4 cards with me ;-). > A small shoulder bag and a hand strap is what I use. Never-ready > cases always get in my way. I've been travelling with smal shoulder bag that fits one body with the lens and two more small-medium lenses. So my bag was filled with 43 Lim, 77 Lim, and Sigma 18/3.5... Very often the fact that I had to carry my daughter (not too often I admit) or some bags heavier than my photo bag made this bad a nuisance... Isn't there a Pentax produced case where it connects to the camera by means of screw into tripod hole? Then you can shoot without taking camera out of the bad... The cover of the case should also be possible to detach from the case... This is how old Zenit ET was sold to me... I am sure Pentax is at least as smart, aren't they? ;-) When I get a chance I will definitely look for such a case, be it Pentax or 3rd party product. -- Boris
