Would that be this book? No copies available unfortunately.

That's the one!
The authors were Anne Taylor and Fern Mosk.
Publishers were Simon & Schuster, N.Y. 1956.
Subtitled: Or the confessions of a sports car addict.
It has a Liberary of Congerss Caatalog numb, but apparently that was prior to iSBNs.

The back dust cover displays a photograph of the two authors in a 1933 RHD MG L3 Magnette, supercharged, 1087 cc.

What a car!

In the story, Prudence, a college girl, literally builds a sportscar in her dorm room! The book is accompanied by lots of well done line drawing sketches of various sports cars from "back then."

I mean, really! 1956! Sports car nirvana age...
My first sports car was a Triumph TR-3!

Lots of memories from back then. I was totally immersed in SCCA activities, crewing and racing and driving my TR around the countryside!

sighhh.
