Well, from about 6cm you can see the whole image, but there is no reason to
stay that far way,  I usualy have as close to my eye as possible :-)

That is not my experience, I find focusing with this combo at least as comfortable as
with one of the AF bodies (Z1 and MZ3).
I guess the MX finder is still a bit better as is the FA1 or FA2 finder for the LX, 
but I 
often take just the action finder because it doubles as a ref-converter for low 
wide angle shots and for tele-shots using a tripod.

Most comfortable is the FB-1+FC-1 on the LX, but as said that might not be the one
for most acurate focusing.

Also, I heard the MZ-S has a rather good finder for an AF body ...
