1. What will I do with my CF cards? I have 1G extreme III and 512Ultra II both SanDisk. Selling them here doesn't look like a good ideasince I won't get any good price.

The card storage represents about $140 if purchased new nowadays. I hang onto such things ... never know when something might come along that can use them.

2. Don't you think that I will stay on the same level of body, or even downgrade a little?

I bought the *ist DS after I had been using the Canon 10D for a year and some. Yes, it's a simpler, less expensive body, but I find the image quality and capabilities are pretty much on par for my needs. The DS is on par or better than a 300D body, in my opinion. The only thing you're giving up is access to Canon's image stabilized lenses, which I have not found to be particularly significant.

Also, I don't know if it does have an outside flash sync connector (for studio gear) and it's kind of important to me....

The DS body does not have a PC sync terminal. If you need a PC flash sync connector, a Wein Safe Sync will do a good job of supplying one along with protecting the DS from the possibility of too high sync voltage.
