The eye cup on the DS is a different design that wraps entirely around
the viewfinder frame. Much more difficult to knock off accidentally.
(I've though about trying one on my D but the eye cup for the zx5n works
almost as well, more friction).

I find that eye relief can be a little hard to come by. I had visions
before the DS arrived of taking off that eyecup, but I find that it does
not get in the way at all (i.e., it does not keep me from getting my eye
close enough to see the full viewfinder).
