The Maha I have (MH-C204W) supposedly does a "pulsed" trickle charge on a
fully charged set of cells. It's a "third" type of charging - first rapid,
then trickle ("top-off"), then pulsed ("maintenance"). (Actually, there's
supposed to be even one more phase - a "ramp-up" phase just before the
rapid phase, for reconditioning older batteries.)
