I've been limping along with an internal flash that fires at full
throttle for as long as I've owned my DS. I've got about six months
remaining in the warranty. I'll send mine in as soon as I get back from
my vacation to the Philippines and Hong Kong later this month. I've
been making do with my AF330FTZ flashgun instead. I know the feeling of
getting a bad one, but am fortunate that the problem in mine is not so
unmanageable as the one you're experiencing. I almost never used the
internal flash on my ZX-5n, and find even less need for the built-in
flash on the DS. Still, it's frustrating to think I'm going to need to
be without it for whoknows how long.
