Yeah, I agree.  But, I was panning, just trying to keep up with the
bikes - with a 40mm lens, I was quite close to trackside, so I had to
move quite quickly to pan.

Really, it isn't hard.  Follow the bikes (or scooters, or car or
pedestrian) and snap.  <g>
