Problem is that there is no "actual normal". The term normal lens is
coined, as far as I know, from what area the human eye aproximately
scans when normally looking around, so it's quite a bit fuzzy. It
is just a coincidence that it corresponds roughly to the
diagonal. What than about formats with weird aspect ratios? What would
be their normal lens according to the diagonal?
The usus is that 40-60mm is considered normal lens for 135 film
format. With fuzzy boundaries.
