Nope, it's not your style, and it clearly shows.  It's not a bad pic, but
there's something "off" about it.  The moment wasn't quite caught, there's
a bit too much tension in the faces and postures of the subjects, not
relaxed enough, not quite natural or capturing the "who" of the subjects. 
You got the what - you just might not have worked with them enuf.  hard to
pinpoint it exactly, but the sense I get is that neither you nor the
subjects were completely comfortable with the shooting experience.

I think this is a scene that's more to my style of shooting, more direct,
more interpersonal.

Also, I think the pic is just too small to be fully examined on a monitor
screen.  Something larger, like 700 or 800 pixels wide, might give a little
more punch to the image.  And for clowns and people in silly attire, it
comes across as a bit too dark.  It's as though the tonality is at odds
with the subject.
