JCO - I agree with you in concept. But, in the end, no matter how many folks write to Pentax about their old lenses it's just not going to make any difference.
I'm one of the guys with an old screw mount Spotmatic and a few lenses. It served me well from 1968 through 2001 when I bought my 5n. In 2003 I followed that purchase with the D. We are a very small, and shrinking, slice of the market. This is a very price competitive market in which Pentax is already at a disadvantage. I have watched friends and co-workers make decisions to buy from Internet, rather than local dealers, for as little as $10-$25 savings on purchases of several hundred dollars. More people think like them than think like us. Yesterday (a Saturday) I taught two sessions of my digital photography class at the local community college. Of the twenty students, 8 had Digital SLRs. All were Canon Rebels. The remainder of the cameras were a mix of Olympus, Fuji, Sony and Canon point and shoots, more or less in that order. I've taught this class several times over the last 18 months. Now and then I see a Pentax. Not very often. Try to make your peace with the situation my friend. Enjoy your artistic endeavors. Life is too short to be concerned with these things. See you later, gs <http:www.georgesphotos.net>
