NO - I didn't state this before because its so obvious
that I didn't think it needed stating. I am huge
fan of the K/M PENTAX lenses. I really like them
and I really enjoy using them. Some of the best
lenses they ever made are in this series. There
is no sense is disabling them over a $5 part
without ANY compatability issues... I am
not complaining here I am WARNING people here
what this means but apparently its over their
heads. Pentax has done a 180 and is NOW starting disabling
older products with no compatability issues. If
you cant see that as a WARNING its your loss.
I don't think this list has anything to do
with Pentax themselves does it? Are they on
the list or something?

No, I don't think so. Someone said once that they read the list sometime. But
if one goes by what is said here and what Pentax does, I don't think Pentax
pays much attention. :-)

I don't disagree with you re lenses. But it seems that Pentax the COMPANY,
and that Pentax gear are almost two entities. While people on this list love
Pentax film cameras, and many on this list love the older manual lenses, very
few on this list love what Pentax the COMPANY has done in the last several
years.

Actually, ever since I joined this list people have been complaining about
what Pentax the COMPANY does: issue cameras well after other companies, not
deliver them when even they said they would, have lousy marketing campaigns,
not
have full frame sensors, not make the feature issues most on the list would
like, etc., etc.

Companies are concerned more with the bottom line. And although Pentax at
sometime in the past might have been concerned more with quality (I am not sure
they ever were, not that familiar), they seem like any other camera company
now. But isn't that a good thing in some ways? If they are to survive int the
digital world they had to do things more similarly to other companies to
survive.
To make profits. They had to learn to keep up.

So to me, it just seems that some of the things that bother you are fait
accompli. And that there is no indication Pentax is ever going to change now
(make
things more backward compatible). So it's a matter now of letting go and
moving on. Adjusting.

However, note that I am not big on brand loyalty myself. Regardless of the
product. Because companies do this kind of thing all the time. Just when I get
to really liking some food product, for instance, that company will discontinue
it. I mean this kind of stuff happens to me all the time. So I guess I don't
expect much from most companies anymore.

Anyway, take care, Marnie aka Doe :-)
