I will probably take my Canon G3 anyway which is great for candid/street
shots - you can swivel the LCD viewer and use it at waist level. People
don't even think/realise that you are taking a photo.
I'm happy enough shooting in London with a compact camera - you become just
another tourist. I still feel a bit self-conscious wielding an SLR with a
big lens in a crowd.
I'm also aiming to spend a day in Provincetown (Cape Cod) which I've heard
is full of outrageously flamboyant people.

Perhaps one time you could come visit West Hollywood for the same breed
of people. You'd LOVE it! ;-)
