That's a question for the Pentax engineers to answer. All I can do is speculate that the missing parts you're complaining about may have interfered with some other mechanical or electronic function of the camera. We don't know what went on in the Pentax engineering spaces. Without that knowledge there's no way of knowing why they made that decision. There may be a very good technical reason for it.
