I wouldn't park by the ferry building.
If we're meeting up in the Union Square area, or anywhere in the city
really, I'd park in the city at the Fifth & Mission garage (by
Moscone and the Sony Metreon). Arriving around 10-11 am, it will be
mostly empty and you can leave a car there until 11:30 at night, take
MUNI and taxis to get around the city if the distance is too far to
walk. It's a location relatively central to BART, MUNI and CalTrain
stations too.
