CorelDraw manages to ship with a new load of bugs every release that take a
few updates to fix and then they send out a new release. i use Illustrator a
lot for mapping work. CorelDraw has no concept of plugins and that makes
things like custom co-ordinate spaces impossible. i also find that
Illustrator is much more stable on very large files, 60-80MB files. Freehand
is as expandable as Illustrator, but has problems with Postscript and PDF
compatibility.

ilustrator is better than draw & freehand in what way? I use both corel &
illustrator and corel has the edge in most areas except
the way it creates fountain fills and transparency fades. You can't even
open up more than a one page document in illustrator,
I could go on all day with comparisions, but corel would be superior in
most regards. I havn't used freehand since 8 and mostly
for digitising as I was working for an embrodeiry company at the time, but
I wouldn't use freehand for anything else.....
