I don't mind that the body of the Turtle is mainly centered in the frame but it would add some dynamic tension, (yet still leave him mostly centered), while putting the brightest object in the frame, his head further off the horizontal center line of the photo. You don't have to agree, but that's what I would do.

The bottom, you say? Hmm... I'm more perturbed by the intrusion of green leaves at the top of the frame. My first thought would be to crop all sides by an equal percentage, to eliminate the green leaves. Do you find it distracting that the subject is centered in the frame? Maybe that's why you want to only crop the bottom?
